Important lessons for becoming a better judo coach, from Special Needs Judo Foundation and Svenska Judoförbundet:
– give your students enough time to process information; the brain needs 7-10 seconds to actually perceive information;
– sometimes, the brain needs self-regulation; wait for it to happen before repeating or launching a new task; too many tasks generate unclarity and frustration;
– let students teach their own way, without intervening; everybody needs self-expression;
– let students enough space for struggling their OWN mistakes – help them at self-evaluation and future decisions;
– while creating an engaging story for the adapted judo sessions, – take care not to lose clarity;
SAFETY STAYS FIRST;
– everybody has to FIND and MANIFEST their own way of being and teaching.
